Cranbrook Age Friendly would like to acknowledge with respect and honour those survivors of residential schools, their families as well as those who lost their lives. We stand with our Indigenous peers and hope to firstly accepted these hard truths about Canada's past and move forward towards reconciliation.
Follow the link below on how non-indigenous people can support and show allyship for Indigenous peoples. We encourage you, if you can to wear orange: https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/survivor-offers-advice-on-how-to-honour-national-day-for-truth-and-reconciliation-1.5601122
Additionally, check out the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation homepage (https://nctr.ca) for information on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, how to respectfully observe the day and great educational resources for yourself and others.
