This program is intended to reach adults aged 50+ living in their own home in the Cranbrook area, who may not otherwise have a gift to open on Christmas Day. In 2019, we hope to gift 75-100 people.
In order to avoid program abuse, a referral will be required from a qualified source (support worker, healthcare provider, church leader, etc). Application forms can be picked up at several locations (participating churches, social service programs, health care centres/clinics) or can be requested by email or FB message. Forms will include the recipients name, age, contact information and Christmas wish. Completed forms can be scanned & emailed or dropped off at Cranbrook Family Connections (see location information below).
We’re excited to announce that McKim School’s Grade 7 class in Kimberley is making Angels. Once all the applications are received, the relevant information - including applicant’s Christmas Wish - will be added to the Angels (to protect privacy, no names will be included). The Angels (or a facsimile) will be hung on a Christmas Tree at Save-On-Foods in Cranbrook, for collection by caring gift donors. Donors will take their Angel(s), purchase an appropriate gift (suggested maximum $25), and drop off the unwrapped gift at Cranbrook Family Connections. Donors are welcomed to provide packaging and giftwrapping materials (ie boxes, gift bags, wrapping paper) and are encouraged to include a Christmas Greeting card (need not be signed). Volunteers will wrap the gifts.
Sponsors will be needed to “adopt” any unclaimed Angels to ensure all commitments are met and that as many gifts find their way under a tree to brighten up the holidays a bit for adults in need. If you are interested in sponsoring an unclaimed Angel, please contact us.
