UNITED WAY
United Way Centraide’s long history of supporting local Canadian communities dates back to 1917. The name of our national office – United Way Centraide Canada – reflects the bilingual nature of our country’s culture and language. Across Canada, over 100 local United Way Centraide offices support more than 3,300 community agencies and programs every year, helping to improve lives from coast to coast to coast.
Locally and nationally, the United Way Centraide goal is the same – to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our communities. Across Canada, United Way Centraide invests locally in three areas that are crucial for our country to thrive:
Moving people from poverty to possibility
Helping kids be all they can be
Building strong and healthy communities
By making strategic investments in these areas of focus, United Way Centraide is achieving meaningful and lasting change in Canadian communities. Together, with the support of Canadians, we strive to fulfill our mission: “To improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.”
