Alzheimer Society of BC
In 1981, a group of caregivers gathered to discuss the challenges of caring for a person diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Out of their compassion and determination, the Society was ultimately founded. From those humble roots, the Society has blossomed into an organization active in communities across the province.
Our vision
Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and that world begins with a more dementia-friendly society, where people affected by dementia are acknowledged, supported and included.
Our mission
We ensure people affected by dementia are not alone, by educating and mobilizing a broader community of care around them, and supporting valuable research into the disease and people living with it.
We can help
First Link® dementia support connects people with dementia and their care partners to support services, education and information at any stage of the journey. If you are living with dementia, connecting to First Link means you’ll receive the support you need when you need it – through bulletins, support groups, education and one-on-one phone calls. First Link is about an ongoing connection.
If you are living with dementia or have questions about the disease, call the First Link® Dementia Helpline at 1-800-936-6033.
Minds in Motion® is a fitness and social program open to people in the early stages of dementia and their care partners, where they can participate in light exercise, fun activities and social time.
